The stack is a CRM plus four other categories

Counting tool categories rather than individual products shows what the job really is. Among RevOps postings:

  • 78% name a CRM
  • 31% name a sales engagement or intelligence tool (Gong, Outreach, ZoomInfo, Clay)
  • 31% name a BI or data tool (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Snowflake)
  • 28% name a spreadsheet
  • 13% name a finance or CPQ system
  • 10% name an AI assistant
  • 10% name an automation or iPaaS tool (Zapier, Workato, n8n)

That combination is the whole job in one line: the CRM is the system of record, the BI tool is where leadership looks, the engagement tools generate the activity, and the spreadsheet is where all three get reconciled when they disagree.

The tools are the symptom, the language is the diagnosis

Tool counts alone understate the work. In the same 1,520 postings:

  • 68% contain integration-pain language — single source of truth, disparate systems, data hygiene, migrations, syncing between platforms
  • 92% contain reporting-burden language — dashboards, forecasting, KPIs, executive reporting
  • 31% explicitly describe manual work
  • 49% now contain AI language

RevOps carries more integration-pain language than any other role class measured. It is the role companies hire when the systems stop agreeing with each other.

What RevOps pays

The median advertised RevOps salary is $146,100 (yearly-equivalent midpoint, n=234 postings with usable salary data), with a 25th-to-75th percentile range of $117,500 to $189,000. RevOps is also the most remote-friendly ops role in the dataset: 39% of postings are flagged remote, against 22% for Chief of Staff and BizOps roles.

Notably, RevOps is the one role class where mentioning AI does not command a significant salary premium — postings that mention AI advertise 6.4% more, which does not clear a rank test. The likeliest explanation is saturation: when half the postings in a role already ask for AI, asking for it stops being a differentiator.

A note on what this counts

Tool extraction counts named products. A posting that says "our CRM" without naming it counts as zero tools, so every figure here is a floor rather than a ceiling.

How this was measured

These figures come from Inform Growth's 2026 study of 294,483 job postings, collected from public job boards between January 4 and July 26, 2026, with a collection pause in April and May. Role classes are assigned by job title; tool mentions are extracted with a curated dictionary of roughly 120 named SaaS products with aliases. Text analysis covers the 96,328 postings in target and GTM-adjacent roles with English descriptions of at least 300 characters. Full methodology and limitations are in the main report.
