Across US postings collected between January and July 2026, remote roles lead on both measures. Companies hiring nationally for distributed operations roles are, on the evidence of their own postings, further along in absorbing the AI mandate than companies hiring locally.

The spread is informative. The roles that work inside systems go remote; the roles that work inside rooms do not. RevOps at 39% is a job done in a CRM and a warehouse. Chief of Staff at 22% and AI leadership at 21% are jobs done in proximity to executives. Portfolio and M&A operations, at 16%, is the least remote role measured — diligence and integration work still travels.

The West and Northeast lead AI mention by roughly nine percentage points over the Midwest, which also carries the lowest advertised pay. The South sits between them on AI language but closer to the Midwest on salary.
What the pay gap does and does not mean
The remote premium here is not evidence that remote work pays better for the same job. Remote postings skew toward technology companies, toward larger addressable talent markets, and toward roles senior enough to be trusted without daily supervision. All three push the median up independently of the work model.
The more defensible reading is compositional: the kinds of companies that hire ops roles nationally are also the kinds of companies further along on AI adoption and paying at the top of the range. The correlation is real; the causal arrow is not established by this data.
Region and work-model figures cover US postings only. Location is parsed from the board-provided location field to census regions; postings outside the US and postings with unparseable locations are excluded from these cuts.
How this was measured
These figures come from Inform Growth's 2026 study of 294,483 job postings, collected from public job boards between January 4 and July 26, 2026, with a collection pause in April and May. Salary figures use posted ranges normalized to yearly-equivalent midpoints with outliers outside $10,000 to $1,500,000 removed. Text analysis covers the 96,328 postings in target and GTM-adjacent roles with English descriptions of at least 300 characters.
